The educational hub in Palermo
is dedicated to legal, economic and social education. The main campus is on Via Parlatore, in the center of the city, next to Villa Malfitano, a magnificent park with a 19th-century mansion built by the Whitaker family.
The building, built in 1897 as a monastery dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, after closing thirty-three years later, was entrusted to Luigia Tincani, who expanded and transformed it into the School of Women’s Ministry, an institution that quickly became known throughout the region.
The facility, closed during the war, was reopened in 1944 as the “White House” boarding house for university women, and finally in 1999 became a branch of LUMSA. The central location makes it easy for students to reach the campus either by rail and subway lines or by regular bus service.
